Historical Architectural Review Board
The Shippensburg Historical Architectural Review Board (HARB) is responsible for reviewing and providing counsel to Borough Council regarding the advisability of issuing a certificate of appropriateness for any business sign installation, erection, reconstruction, alteration, restoration, demolition or razing of a building existing or to be built in the Historic District where such work will affect the exterior façade of the building facing the street(s).
In determining the counsel to provide to Borough Council regarding issuing a certificate of appropriateness for an application received by the board, the HARB shall consider the following matters:
Before being placed on the HARB agenda, an applicant must complete an application and provide all required documentation necessary for review. Completed applications for the HARB agenda should be submitted no later than the second Wednesday of the month for that month’s board meeting.
HARB meetings are held at 6:30 pm the fourth Wednesday of the each month in the Borough Council meeting room located at 111 N. Fayette Street.
HARB members are volunteers appointed by Borough Council for five-year terms.
