The Borough of Shippensburg, (Cumberland and Franklin County) is currently seeking applications for the position of Police Chief. The Chief manages a department of 9 FT sworn officers. The Chief is a working chief meaning that he or she will be expected to engage in patrol activities. Salary negotiable; commensurate with experience and qualifications.
The applicant must be community-focused and have the leadership, management, and interpersonal skills to maintain and advance the department’s standing as a progressive, professional, and innovative police agency.
Applicants must have a minimum of fifteen (15) years of law enforcement experience in the state of Pennsylvania as a Municipal or State Police Officer, including a minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience holding the rank of Corporal or higher. Must have prior work experience in administration management Skills, and budgeting.
A Bachelor’s Degree is strongly preferred. The candidate must have a valid PA operator license and be certified by MPOETC and possess a current Act 120 certification, or be capable of becoming certified.

The Equipment Operator is a full-time position. Primary duties for this position are to collect refuse on a weekly basis, operate equipment, vehicles and machinery and perform preventative maintenance. Successful candidates must be able to lift up to 70 lbs., be able to work in inclement weather, be able to work non-traditional hours (4 AM – 12 PM), possess high school diploma and Class B Commercial Driver’s License. Class A license preferred. Prior experience in Sanitation collection a plus but not required. Preference given to candidates that reside within 10 miles of the Borough of Shippensburg.

Maintenance Worker I is a full-time laborer position. The primary duties for this position are general maintenance tasks directly related to the operations and maintenance of each department. Successful candidate will possess high school diploma and have Class B Commercial Driver’s License (or ability to obtain within 1 year). Preference given to successful candidates that reside within 10 miles of the Borough of Shippensburg and/or have Class B CDL license. Prior experience is preferred but not required.
Position will work Monday through Friday 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM and after hours for emergency calls as necessary.
