The Borough of Shippensburg is accepting applications for Water Operator in Training.
The Water Operator in Training is a full-time position. This is a skilled and moderately technical position involving the operation and maintenance of all wells and the Gunter Valley Treatment Plant, the treated water distribution system including water storage tanks, and their equipment. An employee in this position is responsible to maintain and operate a variety of equipment in the facility and conducts required analysis and inspections.
Successful candidates must possess high school diploma or GED; possession of, and continuous licensing by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania of Class AE Distribution System license with subsection 12, or ability to obtain within fourteen (14) months and possession of, continuous licensing by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania of Class AE with subsections 1, 7, 8, 11, or the ability to obtain within twenty-four (24) months after Class AE obtained; possess valid Class B (Class A preferred) Pennsylvania motor vehicle operator’s license, or ability to obtain same within one (1) year of hire; preference given to candidate within a 10 mile radius of the Borough of Shippensburg.

The Borough of Shippensburg is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Municipal Street/Sanitation/Maintenance Supervisor. Qualified candidates for this position should have experience in maintenance of roads/streets, sanitation, maintenance of building and grounds. Previous supervisory experience required. Possession of Class B CDL; or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire. Preference will be given to qualified candidates living within 10 miles of Shippensburg.

Maintenance Worker I is a full-time laborer position. The primary duties for this position are general maintenance tasks directly related to the operations of the wastewater treatment facility. Successful candidates must reside within 10 miles of the Borough of Shippensburg within one year of being hired; possess high school diploma and have ability to obtain Class B motor vehicle license within 6 months if not already obtained. Prior experience in wastewater preferred but not required.
Positions will work Monday through Friday 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM; participate in weekend rotations and respond to emergency calls as necessary.
